Classic Birthday Tiered Cake
An impressive two-tier celebration cake with vanilla layers and rainbow sprinkles.

- For 6-inch tier: 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla
- For 9-inch tier: 3 cups flour, 1 tbsp baking powder, 1 cup butter, 2 cups sugar, 4 eggs, 1 cup milk, 2 tsp vanilla
- For frosting: 3 cups butter, 9 cups powdered sugar, 6 tbsp milk, 3 tsp vanilla
- Rainbow sprinkles for decoration
- Cake dowels for support

Bake 6-inch layers (two) at 350°F for 25-28 minutes.

Bake 9-inch layers (two) at 350°F for 30-35 minutes.

Cool all layers completely, then level tops.

Make frosting: Beat butter until fluffy, add sugar gradually, then milk and vanilla.

Frost and stack 9-inch layers on cake board.

Insert dowels into bottom tier for support.

Frost and stack 6-inch layers on top.

Apply crumb coat, chill 30 minutes.

Apply final smooth coat of frosting.

Decorate with sprinkles around the base of each tier.
