Black Forest Cake

German chocolate layer cake with cherries and whipped cream.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 cans cherries, drained
  • 1/4 cup kirsch
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • Chocolate shavings

    Make chocolate cake layers; bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes.

    Whip cream with powdered sugar.
