Southern Butter Cake

Dense, buttery cake with a gooey butter topping. Incredibly rich!

  • For base: 1 box yellow cake mix, 1 egg, 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • For topping: 8 oz cream cheese, 2 eggs, 4 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 cup butter, melted, 1 tsp vanilla

    Mix cake mix, 1 egg, and 1/2 cup butter.

    Press into greased 9x13 pan.

    Beat cream cheese, 2 eggs, sugar, 1/2 cup butter, and vanilla.

    Pour over base.

    Bake at 350°F for 40-45 minutes.

    Center should be slightly jiggly.

    Cool completely; dust with powdered sugar.
