Braided Challah Bread
Beautiful braided Jewish bread with a golden crust and soft, eggy interior.

- 4 cups flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 packet yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 4 eggs (3 for dough, 1 for wash)
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Dissolve yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar.

Mix flour, sugar, and salt; add yeast mixture, 3 eggs, and oil.

Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.

Let rise 1 1/2 hours until doubled.

Divide into 3 strands and braid together.

Let rise 30 minutes; brush with beaten egg.

Bake at 375°F for 30-35 minutes until golden.
