Classic Cherry Pie

Sweet-tart cherry filling with a beautiful lattice top. All-American favorite!

  • Double pie crust
  • 6 cups pitted cherries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Egg wash

    Preheat oven to 400°F.

    Mix cherries, sugar, cornstarch, almond extract, and lemon juice.

    Let sit 15 minutes.

    Pour into bottom crust; dot with butter.

    Create lattice top with second crust.

    Brush with egg wash.

    Bake 45-50 minutes until bubbly and golden.

    Cool 3 hours before serving.

  • Use a cherry pitter for fresh cherries
  • Frozen cherries work great - don't thaw first
