  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

2Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).

  4. 4

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined. Don't overmix!

  6. 6

Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula.

  7. 7

Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  8. 8

Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden but the centers still look slightly underdone.

  9. 9

Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Baker's Tips

  • For extra soft cookies, slightly underbake them
  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies
  • Use room temperature eggs for better mixing
