Danish Kringle

Oval-shaped flaky pastry with almond filling and sweet glaze. Wisconsin state pastry.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup cold butter
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • For filling: 1 cup almond paste, 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 cup sugar
  • For glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tbsp milk, sliced almonds

    Cut butter into flour; stir in sour cream.

    Chill overnight.

    Roll into long oval.

    Spread filling down center.

    Fold sides over; shape into oval ring.

    Bake at 375F for 20-25 minutes.

    Drizzle with glaze; scatter almonds.
