Nanaimo Bars

No-bake Canadian classic with chocolate coconut base, custard center, and chocolate top.

  • For base: 1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup sugar, 5 tbsp cocoa, 1 egg, 2 cups graham crumbs, 1 cup coconut, 1/2 cup walnuts
  • For middle: 1/4 cup butter, 3 tbsp custard powder, 2 cups powdered sugar, 3 tbsp cream
  • For top: 4 oz semisweet chocolate, 2 tbsp butter

    Melt base butter with sugar and cocoa; add egg.

    Stir in crumbs, coconut, walnuts; press into pan.

    Beat middle layer ingredients; spread over base.

  4. 4

    Melt chocolate and butter; spread on top.

  5. 5

    Refrigerate until set.
