Red Velvet Cupcakes

Rich, velvety cupcakes with a gorgeous red hue topped with cream cheese frosting.

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp white vinegar

    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line cupcake tins.

    Whisk flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.

    Beat sugar and oil; add eggs one at a time.

    Mix buttermilk, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar.

    Alternate adding dry and wet ingredients to sugar mixture.

    Fill liners 2/3 full and bake 20-22 minutes.
