Fresh Strawberry Layer Cake

Pink strawberry cake with strawberry buttercream and fresh berries.

  • 1/2 cup strawberry puree
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Pink food coloring
  • For frosting: 1 1/2 cups butter, 6 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 cup strawberry puree

    Puree fresh strawberries; strain.

    Make white cake batter; add strawberry puree.

    Tint pink if desired.

    Bake in two pans at 350°F for 28-30 minutes.
