Strawberry Shortcake

Light, fluffy cake layered with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp cold butter
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 lbs fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar for berries
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar

    Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

    Cut in cold butter until crumbly.

    Add milk and egg; mix until just combined.
